Two types of lasers are mainly used: KTP which has a wavelength of 532 nm and Nd-Yag which has twice the wavelength (1064 nm). These differences in wavelength explain their differences in action. KTP is especially indicated for very superficial red vessels of small diameter. Nd-Yag is recommended for larger diameter and deeper vessels as well as for small blue veins.
