Some scars can be improved by lasers (acne scar, operation scar, accident or injury scar, burn scar). Very superficial scars can benefit from infrared laser treatment (Smooth beam candela®, Aramis® Quantel). Red and inflammatory scars may benefit from treatment with pulsed dye laser (Vbeam candela®). Moderate acne scars can be improved with fractional resurfacing (Fraxel®) which is a promising new technique. Large acne scars often require an excision step for the most prominent scars before laser resurfacing (CO2, Erbium-yag).
